Here's a link to Homeschool Skedtrack- I am going to give it a whirl this week as I plan the first part of our school year. I like Homeschool Tracker, but there are a couple of things I find frustrating about it (being a relaxed HSer) and Skedtrack looks like it might address those. quote:
Welcome to Homeschool Skedtrack! Homeschool Skedtrack is a FREE online lesson planner, scheduler, and tracking system rolled into one. The heart of the system is the automated scheduling of activities that frees you from the headache of rescheduling everything once an activity/lesson is missed. The whole system is a personal virtual school that features: * easy record keeping from K-12 for each student * worry free data back-up * access of your virtual school from anywhere around the world * secure access of information between the server and the user's browser using secure socket layer (SSL) just like online banking * flexible scheduling of your child's activities/lessons per year, per month, per week or as you go * automated display of daily home school activities/lessons per course * automated tracking of total number of hours/days completed * scheduling and tracking of field trips * scheduling vacations and declaring holidays * a school calendar for each student * a resource list per course * tests recording * automated grade calculation * report card generation in pdf format * transcript generation (coming soon) in pdf format If anyone else checks it out, let us all know what you think.

For me, the big attraction to a program is the generation of transcripts. My kids are soon going to be doing work for which they can get a high school credit, and I want to have a good set of records. It wasn't that big of a deal when I just had one kid to do transcripts for, but now with two in upper elementary and one starting first grade, I need some tools to make it easier. The problem is that sometimes you invest so much time and effort in something that you keep using it even after you realize it totally hoovers. Even using software, I keep a bare bones paper copy of our lesson plans just in case.

I have looked at it. I signed up and set the 2007-2008 school year to end on July 31 and the 2008-2009 school year to start on Aug 13 2008 but it still shows last year as the active year.

The program is still in the beta stage- this may mean it'll take some time to work out bugs. Email them with any problems you have.
