I want a Diet Coke so bad I can hardly focus on what I need to be working on right now!! It probably is a "real" addiction but it's not one of the biggies or something people usually worry about. But I think it's really hurting me. I stopped drinking them completely for about three months and felt great. But recently "fell off the wagon". I've been getting severe stomach cramps and just feeling lousy again! I've got to just stay away from it completely. Yet, when it gets in my head, it just about drives me crazy. And I can't have one, I'll have six.

Well, I don't know if this will be helpful or not. You will no doubt get people telling you to cut it out completely, and drink carbonated water with lemon juice. I do drink that as well, but I do enjoy a Diet Coke. Quite often, if I feel queasy, only Diet Coke will sort it out. So what I switched over to is Caffeine Free Diet Coke, nicely chilled. It still has the artificial sweetener, which many people here regard as from the devil , but at least it means I'm not doing it for the caffeine buzz.

Thanks, manda. But I don't think caffeine affects me - probably because I've consumed MASSIVE quantities over the last few years. I've done Caffeine Free Diet Coke, Diet Coke with Splenda, etc...it's all the same to me. It all just makes me want more. The case I had most recently that still did make me feel bad, though, was the one with Splenda. So I can't say it's strictly the aspartame hurting me either. It's just not good for me. I gotta stay away.
