He Died for the Broken and Outcasts ~Then Judas, which had betrayed him, when he saw that he was condemned, repented himself, and brought again the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders, Saying, I have sinned in that I have betrayed the innocent blood. And they said, What is that to us? see thou to that. And he cast down the pieces of silver in the temple, and departed, and went and hanged himself. And the chief priests took the silver pieces, and said, It is not lawful for to put them into the treasury, because it is the price of blood. And they took counsel, and bought with them the potter's field, to bury strangers in~ Matthew 27: 3-7 Most, upon reading the stories of Jesus of Nazareth, agree that He walked and lived in a most extraordinary manner. One cannot help but be awed at the way He lived His life in reaching out to the sinners, the blind, the lepers and the dregs of society. Here was One Who was so kind to the hurting, the suffering and those that others looked down upon; those that were discarded or ignored by society. However was He this way only in His life? Not only in His life but in His death, also. In our story above, we note that Judas, who betrayed Jesus, brought the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders. This was the money that Judas was paid to lead the soldiers to Jesus who brutally tortured and murdered Him on that cruel cross. Oh, blessed Jesus, that You would allow Yourself to be betrayed into the hands of your enemies for such a pittance! However, we see that though Jesus was so little valued by others, yet He, in His death, valued the outcasts, the strangers and the broken so much that, He did not forget them. He loved them so much He purchased them with the price of His blood. For they bought, for the price of His blood, the potter’s field to bury strangers in. The strangers were those who traveled to Jerusalem on Jewish Holy Days to worship. While they were there, they died and no one knew who they were. They died alone and then were buried in a field where there was broken pottery. They were discarded into that field, alone and forgotten. Oh, precious soul, if you died would you die alone and forgotten? Would you be discarded as one that no one placed a value on? Jesus did not forget you! For the price of His blood He purchased that field so that all the strangers and those alone would become His! He loved you so much that He could not live without you! But what of all the broken pottery that was thrown into that field? The broken pottery represents those of us that have been broken by others or by the evils of life. He bought us, also. For when we bought that field, He bought everything that was in that field, including the broken pieces of our lives, the broken pottery, so to speak. Even though others may have discarded us and thrown us away, He loved us so much He bought us back with His life. And when He buys us back, He puts the broken pieces of our lives back together and the greatest light of His love shines through the cracks in our vessels.

Harvesting of God’s Goodness ~For ye shall not go out with haste, nor go by flight: for the LORD will go before you; and the God of Israel will be your rereward~ Isaiah 52: 12 What precious treasure we can glean from some of the strangest words, if our hearts are alert to the gentle whisperings of the Holy Spirit. Certainly the word rereward, as found in the King James Version of the Bible, is foreign to our modern ears. The English Standard version defines it rearguard. No matter what version we read, however, the word reveals another of the glorious characteristics of our dear God. For, in this instance, the word means to gather or take away. As noted above, our God goes before us. Most, if Christians for a significant amount of time, know the Lord as the Shepherd God. ~I am the good Shepherd~ and all that entails is finer than the most glittering of diamonds to the soul who has come to know the Shepherd’s heart. For the good Shepherd leads us and guides us, protects and defends us. He goes after the one lost sheep until found and He carries the little lambs close to His great heart of love However, have we experienced the God of Israel being our rereward? We have experienced Him in this fashion but perhaps we are not aware of Him as such. For what does the rereward or rearguard of His people do? Why is it significant to know how He helps us in such a way? During the days of the Exodus, the rearguard represented the angel of God who led the people of God away from the pursuing Egyptians, as it is written ~ Then the angel of God who was going before the host of Israel moved and went behind them, and the pillar of cloud moved from before them and stood behind them, coming between the host of Egypt and the host of Israel. And there was the cloud and the darkness. And it lit up the night without one coming near the other all night~ He was the protection of God’s people from the harmful Egyptians. Our glorious God does not stop revealing Himself, however, there. For the rearguard serves the people of God in another fashion. He goes before us but He also goes behind us gathering up and taking away all of the messes we make of our lives. He follows behind us and gathers up and takes away all of our guilt and shame, all of our suffering, all of our brokenness and turns it all for our good. He gathers up and takes away our daily messes, also. Gracious God! None but You are so good to us! None but You are so patient and kind! None but You are so tender and merciful. You gather up and take away with Your nail-pierced hands all of the brokenness of our lives and turn our lives into a beautiful poema, a beautiful poem, lovely to you and useful to those in need! Oh…. ~ Whom have I in heaven but you? And there is nothing on earth that I desire besides you. My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever ~

Amen. He is good. He is full of life and light and joy and love. His touch brought healing and his gaze brought joy. His tears showed him ready to raise the dead. He had time for the poor, food for the hungry, a cure for any disease. He was not ashamed to let a young woman pour him a drink of water, in spite of racial hate. He was tough love for Peter, an exorcist for the Magdelene, and Father for all the children. He didn't run from the final fight. He took our shame, our beating and our ridicule. His love for us held Him to our cross. His blood gave us new life. I deserted Him and He forgave me. Thank you Lord Jesus

Thank You, Jesus Thank You, my dearest Jesus, for being my Creator. You created me for Your glory, and You tell me ~I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with loving kindness have I drawn thee~ I have always been the object of Divine love. There has never been a time when I have not been written upon Your heart. Thank You, dear Jesus that I am always with Thee. Nothing can ever separate me from You. For ~ Whither shall I go from thy spirit? Or whither shall I flee from thy presence? If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there. If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea; even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me. Thank You that You know me through and through yet You still adore me and call me Your bride. Why even the hairs of my head are numbered. ~Thou hast searched me and known me~. You know the worst about me and yet You still think precious thoughts about me. Dear Lord, You are my refuge during times of fear, pain or sorrow. You remind me that ~ He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty~ Because I have set my love upon You, therefore you will deliver me: You will set me on high, because I hath known Your name. You tell me that when I call upon You, you will answer me, be with me in trouble, You will deliver me and honor me. You tell me that I am one of the people of Your pasture and the sheep of Your hand. You are the good Shepherd. ~The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul~ Because You are my Shepherd, ~ Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever. To think that You identify with and call Yourself, Shepherd. Shepherd’s were despised and looked down upon when You walked this earth. You identify Yourself with the despised, rejected, outcasts. I love You for that, my God! I thank You most of all, my blessed Jesus for dying on the cross for me. The love of Christ…the love of Christ for me. How can I fathom it? You endured such physical torture and agony for me. Your great heart literally broke over the agony of being separated from Your Father. You did that for Father. You did that for me. When they took the spear and thrust it into your side, there came forth blood and water indicating a broken heart, You died from. Finally, I thank You for Your resurrection! You are alive and you are King of Kings and Lord of Lords! Every knee shall bow to You someday. You are the Sovereign of the universe. You have absolute authority. I safely place my life, my future, my all-in-all into your loving, nail-pierced hand, I bend my knee to my King, and I say thank you, Jesus, thank you, my Lord.

Our Glorious Hope ~We might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us. Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and steadfast~ During turbulent times is there something we can hold on to help us not sink in despair? Whether it is in our personal lives or the dangerous world we live in, how do we withstand and not succumb to the temptation of fainting in fear or seeking refuge in something that will destroy us? Treasured reader, do we have something or Someone that we can have hope in which can serve to keep us anchored while the winds of uncertainty, fear or grief threaten to overwhelm us? From a Biblical standpoint, what is a definition of hope? It is a much more powerful word than what we usually think. For it is “2a) in the Christian sense joyful and confident expectation of eternal salvation and the author of hope or he who is its foundation.” God is the author of hope and His trustworthiness is its foundation. ~ We might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us. Which hope owe have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and steadfast~ What comfort this can bring a tormented soul! We can have a strong consolation or comfort when we flee for refuge during days when we are hurting or fearful! But where or who do we flee to for our refuge, shelter, protection? It is to Jesus we must flee to receive the desired rest we long for. It is to Him, His promises, His word we must bathe ourselves in. Once we begin to know and believe His loving-kindness, mercy, compassion, and faithfulness we know we can flee to Him for refuge and comfort. We can open our whole being and pour out our hearts to Him. He longs for us to be truthful with Him and share even the worse of ourselves. And what will we receive from Him when we flee to Him for refuge from life’s storms? A deep, abiding peace, joy and certainty that we are so very precious to Him. He will never condemn or judge the one who makes “The Most High God” their refuge. He welcomes and longs for us to come under the shelter of His wings and….rest. Hope. A strong confidence and joyful expectation that something wonderful is going to be given to us. The Hope of Heaven. The hope of abiding forever with a kind, loving, merciful and gracious God. Faith sees the haven, hope desires and anticipates the rest; faith works, and hope holds fast; and, shortly, the soul enters into the haven of eternal repose. ~Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Savior Jesus Christ~ I Will Lift My Eyes to You Bebo Noman http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FtAjrNqEsoM

My Heart Can See Thee My heart can see Thee, Oh, beautiful One. My heart can see Thee, God’s precious Son. The nails pierced Your hands, The nail pierced Your feet. The crown of thorns, All Heaven did mourn. Death defeated, Final answer unfolds. Risen from the grave! The end not yet told. Ascended on high! Apostles assured. Your story told quickly, To a skeptic world. Passed into the Heavens, My Jesus, Son of God. The Father adores, King of Kings, Lord of Lords! Entered within the veil, The Lamb sits on His throne. Hope I now have, Sure anchor for my soul. Perfect sacrifice, Bringing rest to my heart, My heart can see Thee, My Saviour Thou art. ~Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and steadfast, and which entereth into that within the veil; Whither the forerunner is for us entered, even Jesus, made a high priest forever ~ Hebrews 6: 19,20

Blessed Hope! Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and not be afraid: For the LORD JEHOVAH is my strength and my song; he also is become my salvation The LORD is my strength and song, and he is become my salvation: he is my God, and I will prepare him a habitation; my father's God, and I will exalt him. Thy right hand, O LORD, is become glorious in power: thy right hand, O LORD, hath dashed in pieces the enemy. Who is like unto thee, O LORD, among the gods? who is like thee, glorious in holiness, fearful in praises, doing wonders? Thou in thy mercy hast led forth the people which thou hast redeemed: thou hast guided them in thy strength unto thy holy habitation. Thou shalt bring them in, and plant them in the mountain of thine inheritance, in the place, O LORD, which thou hast made for thee to dwell in, in the Sanctuary, O Lord, which thy hands have established. The LORD shall reign forever and ever. My soul doth magnify the Lord, And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Savior. For he hath regarded the low estate of his handmaiden: for, behold, from henceforth all generations shall call me blessed. For he that is mighty hath done to me great things; and holy is his name. And his mercy is on them that fear him from generation to generation. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together. For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us. And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren. Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified. What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us? He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things? Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God's elect? It is God that justifieth. Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy, To the only wise God our Savior, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen. ~So~ Take heart, all who are struggling with battles that have already been won; awake, all who have fallen asleep from loads too heavy to bear; see, all who have been blinded by the flames of disappointment; hear all who have been deafened by the roar of defeat; arise, all who have become lame from wounds unjustly earned; get up, yes, get up all who have been felled by the broken sword of satan's lies; for joy, joy unspeakable is in our midst. ~ Look up, for your redemption draweth nigh! But Thou My heart overwhelmed with sorrow would be, But Thou, oh Lord, art such comfort to me. Fear comes once more to grip my heart, But Thou, oh Lord, my Peace Thou art. The journey seems bitter, the journey seems long But thou, oh Lord, replace all with sweet song. Hopelessness threatens, despair would abound, But Thou, oh Lord, my beauty and my crown. Of Your loving-kindness, of tender mercies so kind, Now I see You, when once I was blind. Once glimpse again, of Your sweet Face All pain forgotten, all fear erased. Oh, Lord, My name in Your wounds I see, Mercy still free, while I cry, why me? Lifted once more to glorious realm And Thou, Oh Lord, still my joy and my crown! 10.23.08 God's love song to me...and you http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IIBSb_3lvQk&feature=related

How will they know? I was hungry and you gave me the bread of life. I was sick and in prison and your grace and truth healed and set me free. I was naked and in heaviness from my sin and you gave me a garment of praise for your forgiveness and love. I had no one that cared for my soul, and You became my best friend, and lover of my soul. Death came to call, and you gave me new life, beyond the grave. The devil, the world and my flesh offered nothing, compared to the blessed assurance of your presence, Holy Spirit and life eternal. They will know by your Spirit, They will know by your Word, They will know by your Love.

Jesus, Friend of Sinners Jesus, what a Friend of sinners You are. So compassionate, kind, my bright Morning Star. How patient You have been with me, dear Lord. My tears you wipe, my heart you restore. No condemnation from You I felt, While You gently lead me, my heart You do melt. With tenderness, pity, understanding You heal, My deep wounds, upon the cross You did feel. My Jesus, I love you more than before, How precious You are, while You knock at the door, Of my broken heart, from eternity You knew, Knowing all about me, yet You never withdrew. Oh, Jesus, how can I say thank you my Friend? There for me while my heart You gently do mend. My Jesus, You are the One I adore, Placed inside Your bleeding wounds, Jesus, while all else fails, I need nothing more.

You Alone, Jesus Part II ~Consider Jesus~ You alone, dear Jesus are "El Shaddai", the strong, Almighty God. You are our Nourisher, and our Strength-Giver. You satisfy us because You pour Yourself into your people's lives. Because You pour Yourself into our lives, You quiet us and give us rest. We need have no desires apart from You. You alone are our strength and song. You part the waters for us as you say to us ~When you pass through the waters I will be with you and the waters shall not overflow you.~ You set our feet upon solid ground and the enemy who pursues us drowns while seeking to destroy us. You bring us safely through the frightening times; our Victory You are. We have seen you raise people from the dead. Oh, Jesus, You were the first raised from the dead, we saw, with the eyes of faith. You are alive, our God and because You live we shall also live and never die! You are our Song, because the more we learn what You are like and how You love us, our hearts cannot help but sing! The joy of knowing You is without comparison. You are our perpetual Light, precious God. You say, ~I am the light of life, he who follows me shall not walk in darkness~. How great is the darkness that covers the earth, but You, light our way through the darkness and You are leading us to that Heavenly Home where no darkness dwells! To spend eternity with You, our Sun of Righteousness is to spend eternity in absolute bliss. No darkness dwells in You for You are perfectly Holy, Pure and Harmless. How great is the thought to spend eternity in everlasting safety in a land where ~nothing hurts or destroys~! You alone, Jesus, are our Healer. You make Your people whole. Often we have been ravished with sin, whether from others or ourselves. Our hurts have been very deep, but not so deep as to prevent You from coming and binding us up. Broken people we have been. Shattered lives, You put back together. You take the shattering of our lives and shine Your greatest light through cracks in our vessels that have been healed. The light of Your love and compassion shine greatest through the broken areas of our lives. We thank You, oh God that You turn everything to our good, even the hurt and pain. You, Jesus are our great Lover! As we go on in years walking with You, we know that You are the greatest Lover that walked this earth! Sinners flocked to You, the sick were healed by You, the broken cried out to You and You never turn away a soul that calls out to You in need. Everlasting kindness will be our portion in You. Oh, Jesus, how we long for Your love! For those of us who have known the passion of Your love, we know that we would be willing to die to experience Your love throughout eternity! Your love for us is beyond description. To spend eternity with such Love is beyond imagination. But even beyond imagination Your love will take us because we know that forever we will spend eternity with You! ~Oh, for a thousand tongues to sing, my great Redeemer's praise! ~

The Lily of the Valleys ~And He opened His mouth and taught them Often, we think of the great “I AM” statements of our Lord in relation to strength, power, the Almighty God. And it is well we think this way for this is how God describes Himself in the Holy Scriptures. But we deprive ourselves greatly if this is the singular way we see Him. For His lovely character is more beautiful than the clearest diamond whose radiance brings delight to our eyes whichever way it is turned. Palestine, during the time of Jesus, was the land of flowers. But none was more precious than the lily. It was associated with springtime, Passover and purity. It spoke of new beginnings and hope born anew. Lilies were one of the first objects of love that Jesus spoke of on the Sermon on the Mount. This was not a lesson to be learned in the Synagogue. No, the Master led the people out to the beautiful hillside, full of flowers, gently saying “Consider the lilies.” There they could gaze upon their beauty as He spoke of The Heavenly Father’s tender care of them. “Consider the lilies of the field”. How much we can learn from that. They are dependent on the Heavenly Father’s care. The trembling lily that the wind can bend, the frost can kill, that the animals can trample – these can bring us the sweet message of our God for they come back to new life after apparent death. Since God cares so much for flowers, He must be very kind and patient and gentle. When we hold the flower in our hands, let us ponder how gracious He must be who makes the flowers. How pitiful, patient, tender He is. But the fairest lily of all is the gentle, kind, sweet Son of God. As He taught the wondering people about the loving care of the lilies from the Father, He was also teaching them about Himself. His beautiful character is the exact representation of the Heavenly Father’s – pitiful, patient, tender, kind. He also alluded to the fact that He would be crushed and trampled under the cruelty of man. As the Son of Man He took on our frailty just as the lily He taught about. However, it did not end there for Jesus, the beautiful Lily who was crushed on that cross for you and for me. For He came back to life during brilliant springtime in a blaze of glory, pure and innocent just as the flower He taught about. ~I am the Lily of the Valleys~

Where are They? Where are My children, You cry, where is My bride? Am I not enough for them, oh, why do they hide? Not satisfied with My beauty, not satisfied with Me, Perhaps they have forgotten, for them I hung on the tree. Can they really know Me, and still not abide? My Father’s beauty and Mine shall draw them aside. For when they behold Me, their face turned to Mine, You are enough they will say as they abide my pierced side. As we behold Him, more beautiful He does become, Oh, child of Mine gaze on Me, from Me do not run. For then My longing for you and your beauty to Me, Will become your longing for more beauty of Me, to thee. ~There I will meet with the children of Israel, and the tabernacle shall be sanctified by My glory….And I will dwell among the children of Israel, and will be their God~ Exodus 29:43,45 For many days the beautiful words translated from the old German of Ter Steegen have been in my heart: Am I not enough, Mine own? Enough, Mine own, for thee? All shalt thou find at last, Only in Me. Am I not enough Mine own? I, for ever and alone, I needing thee?

That Mighty Nail-Pierced Hand ~Weep not; she is not dead, but sleepeth. And they laughed him to scorn, knowing that she was dead. And he put them all out, and took her by the hand, and called, saying, Maid, arise. And her spirit came again, and she arose straightway~ Luke 8:54 That hand swept across the darkness and said ~Let there be light~, and the light pierced through the darkness. That same hand came as a tiny hand waving in the air as the newborn God-man came to earth – Immanuel, God with us. That hand took the hand of its mother as a young child fleeing to Egypt; a cruel king wanted to kill him. That hand was raised in prayer to His Father as He fought through near starvation and temptation before His ministry started. That hand gently and lovingly opened the Scriptures as He proclaimed He is the long awaited Messiah ~ The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised~ No more precious words have ever come from the lips of man. He had come. Messiah had come. That hand was placed on the heads of little children as He blessed them. That hand touched the hand of the blind and the first face they saw was the face of Jesus. That hand led the deaf mute away from the crowd, placed His finger in the deaf man’s ear as He sighed and the man’s ears were opened. That hand broke the bread and fish and fed thousands with only a few fish and loaves. That hand reached out to Peter and lifted him up to safety after Peter cried out he was perishing in the storm. That hand touched the leper, the untouchable and cleansed him, making him white as snow. That hand stilled the waves, cleansed the temple, was raised in blessing to His Father. That hand healed the sick and raised the dead. And then…that hand was bound. Never allowed to do good anymore while He walked this earth. That loving, kind, generous hand was then…crucified…fixed in agony…on a cruel cross. Yet once more, that hand will wave across humanity. That loving hand will still have the nail-prints upon it. Mightly, all-powerful it will sweep across this earth, raising multitudes from the grave so that we may forever be with Him and kiss that nail-pierced hand. That loving hand will be placed on our heads as we bow in wonder and adoration before Him.

Go Tell Peter! ~ Be not amazed! Ye seek Jesus of Nazareth who was crucified; he is risen; he is not here. But go your way, tell his disciples, and Peter, that he goeth before you into Galilee; there shall ye see him ~ The house where Peter lived, during the times of Jesus, has been discovered. At the time, the town was called Capernaum and it was situated on the shores of the Sea of Galilee. It was where many of the miracles of Jesus occurred. James, John, Andrew and Peter all lived in Capernaum when Jesus called them. What sweet ponderings, as we read of carvings that have been found on the walls of Peter’s house! Here we find carvings of a cross and a fish. We see a carving of a boat. We find several carvings of the name of Jesus and a reference to “The Most High God”. We may wonder if Jesus slept in this house after a long, weary day of reaching out in love to touch the sea of broken humanity that flocked to Him. Three years later however, everything was so dark. Jesus was brutally murdered on a cross. Forgotten were the days of Jesus bringing hope and healing in Capernaum and in the house of Peter. As Jesus was being tortured, Peter denied Him. Now, Peter would never be able to ask for His forgiveness. Jesus was dead. He died on a cruel cross, even though He was innocent. “Go your way, tell his disciples and Peter,” came the glorious announcement from the angel to the woman who had come to the tomb looking for Jesus. “He is risen” was the joyous news that God wanted the disciples, especially Peter to know. Go, tell Peter? The one who had denied that he knew Jesus three days earlier with oaths and curses? Peter was to be singled out for special consideration to hear this great hope of hopes? Peter? The one who had put to open shame the One Who so loved him? Oh, matchless, marvelous, grace! It is this King of Glory! This Jesus who conquered death and the grave, Who shows such favor to sinners and the fallen. How Jesus wanted to make certain His fallen disciple knew he was forgiven and accepted unconditionally by God. What special concern He had for His broken Peter! Amazing grace! ~ Grace and truth came by Jesus Christ ~ Let us take courage, dear heart. There is plenty of grace for you; there is plenty of grace for me; just as there was plenty of grace for Peter. ~ Jesus Christ, the same yesterday and today and forever ~

When They Ministered to the LORD ~ Now there were in the church that was at Antioch certain prophets and teachers; as Barnabas, and Simeon that was called Niger, and Lucius of Cyrene, and Manaen, which had been brought up with Herod the tetrarch, and Saul. As they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Ghost said, Separate me Barnabas and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them ~ Here is a beautiful description of God’s desire for us. After the above mentioned came to know and love Jesus, they found Him so irresistible that they first and foremost ministered to Him. It was Jesus they desired. God adores and cherishes us. We are His beloved. His great heart longs to have fellowship with and have intimate time together with us. Before our service, ministry, or anything else He wants us! A few months back, feeling a cooling off of my heart towards Him, I realized that I had put my ministry and other things before Him. The fire that burned in my heart for Him had dimmed. The pure love of wanting to learn more about Him and His wonderful ways with us had slipped away. I will share a little poem I wrote shortly after I realized the cooling off of my relationship with Him: Most Treasured Love My heart has wandered from Thee, O, Spirit of God, come, set me free. Restore unto me a pure love, O, come, sweet, gentle Dove! It is Thee I desire to seek, For all of my days. O, Dearest Jesus, To know more of Thy ways. Bring me back to gaze on Thy Face, Help me behold Thy mercy and grace. Sweet Jesus it is You alone I desire, Send forth Thy love as consuming fire. For you are beautiful, most treasured Love, Father, Son and Holy Dove. Let my life be simply for Thee For me You died on Calvary’s Tree How He desires to be first in our hearts. How He desires that we don’t lose our first love. It was when the first Christians ministered first and foremost to Jesus that the Holy Spirit said Separate me Barnabas and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them. The early church turned the world upside down. God can do the same through us as we minister to and love first the LORD. Oh, Abba Father. You have given us Your very best in the Person of Your Son, Jesus Christ. We desire to say “Thank You, our great God”! More than our service, our gifts, more than anything else You long for us to love Your dearest Beloved. You long for us to be a bride that is so in love with Jesus that we first and foremost minister unto Him because of His great love for us. Please help us Father and bring us back to our first love, our Jesus. For it is in His name we pray, Amen. ...cbg 5.30.06

But He Would Not Leave ~When Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus' knees, saying, Depart from me; for I am a sinful man, O Lord. For he was astonished, and all that were with him, at the draught of the fishes which they had taken~ Eternal love bound Jesus to His astonished disciple. From eternity, Peter was carried on the great heart of Jesus. From eternity he was imbedded into the nail print of God’s hands which stretched out upon the cross, embracing all who come. It was the beginning of a love affair between an impetuous Peter and the “Most High God”. God revealed Himself to His beloved disciple by reaching out to where Peter was at the time, in a fishing boat. Peter, upon seeing the miracle of fishes, recognized the Divinity of Jesus. “Depart from me; for I am a sinful man, O Lord.” But Jesus would not leave Peter. For three and one half years, Jesus patiently led and taught His disciple. Many times God’s kindness was revealed to sinful Peter. Peter saw the face of God, in the person of Jesus, ever clearer as this glorious Being unveiled Himself through the mistakes and pride of Peter. How many times Peter was humbled as the Son of God, Son of Man taught him the way of love. How many times would Peter bring grief to Jesus, in the end, forsaking Him. But Jesus would not leave. Finally, as Jesus was nailed to the cruel cross, Peter must have thought that the end had come, and his beloved Master finally left him through death. Peter’s whole life was shattered; the end had come as the body of Jesus was placed in the tomb. “Go tell my disciples and Peter that I am risen and I go before him unto Galilee.” What is this? Peter being especially sought after from God who died and rose again? Peter, the one who had sinned so against Jesus, finally denying he knew Him? But He will not leave. He cannot leave. He is bound by His faithfulness to stay by sinful disciples. It is against the very Love of God displayed on that cross for you and for me. ~I will never leave or forsake you~

Never Alone! ~ I will never leave thee or forsake thee~ Of all the promises given the Christian by God, this certainly must be one of the most glorious! ~I will never leave thee or forsake thee~, our God says. And behind this beautiful statement stands the faithfulness of a God Who cannot lie to us. Oh, lovely assurance that, though all may leave us, our God will not! So, let us look a little closer at this verse. Strong’s Hebrew and Greek Dictionary says that the word “never” in the verse is a double negative strengthening the denial. Blessed God that would have us know for certain when He says never in this verse, He means never! The words leave and forsake indicate that our God will not leave us behind in a place of suffering. He will not abandon us. He will never leave us alone, unaided to defend ourselves. He will be with us through every heartbreak, every loss, every illness, every death. Quite frequently, I read of dear children of God who question Him during times of deep trouble. They feel alone and abandoned by God; confused and in grief. Oh, I have been there myself! Through dark night of soul and spirit, through being abandoned and betrayed, through losing health and reputation, how often I have wondered where God is, groping through the darkest of nights. Where is He when we have been betrayed and abandoned by our best friend and lover? ~The eternal God is thy refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms~. Where is He when we know not were our next meal will come from? ~Your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things~ He feedeth the fowls of the air. Are ye not much better than they? Where is He when we fear the winds of political change and the economy is failing? ~I am the Lord. I change not~ Where is He when we struggle to be free of addictions and continue to fail? ~Now unto Him who is able to keep you from falling and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy~! Child of His love! He has not left us! He will never leave us! When all is dark about us is the time He is closest to us. The clouds are but the dust of His feet. And the day will come when we shall behold the sunshine of His love again and the earth shall sing with joy around us. We shall behold our Father’s dear face again, look into our Savior’s eyes and see the gentle, tender-mercy that is always there for us. 11/09/08

Cherished are We ~He shall feed his flock like a shepherd: he shall gather the lambs with his arm, and carry them in his bosom, and shall gently lead those that are with young~ ~No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him~ During times of fear, uncertainty or grief it is good to often pause and gaze upward to the face of Jesus. Whether it be uncertainty in our personal lives or fear due to the frightening times we live in, our true, lasting peace can be found only in a deeper knowledge of our tender God’s heart. Jesus is the Sovereign Ruler of the Universe. He has won total victory for those who are His, and He is perfectly Holy. However, there is a need to study how tenderly and lovingly He deals with His own in the midst of difficult times. How is it that He is able to give us His gentle, kind whispers of love and calm our anxious hearts? Part of the reason is because He has been forever in the bosom of our Heavenly Father. He experiences absolute intimacy with the Heavenly Father and being the exact representation of the Father, He is able to pass on to us the same blessedness of the caresses of God. Certainly the word “bosom” of God seems old and outdated to us but it is a word that best communicates what He desires for us. As we look carefully at the word we are thrilled when we discover that to be in or on the bosom of someone means to be in his embrace, to be cherished by them as the object of intimate care and dearest affection. It indicates the upper part of a person's body where objects and persons of love are embraced. The person, animal, or object that is held in one's bosom is cherished greatly. Oh, wouldn’t we love to believe that God cherishes, and is able to keep us in His loving embrace? During times of the harshness of another to us, wouldn’t we love to know the blessedness of the caresses of God and His gentle whispers of love to us as He carries us close to His heart? During times of darkness and death, would we not long for His sweet and tender presence to reassure our hearts that someday soon all of the grief and fear will pass away forever? Let us come to the gentle, pitying heart of Jesus. He will remind us that we are being carried in His everlasting arms of love and that we are always cherished by Him as we lay our weary heads upon His sacred breast.

Arise, Mighty Conqueror! ~And He went forth conquering, and to conquer~ Arise, oh mighty Conqueror! For the time has come. Darkness covers the earth and darkness covers many hearts. Oh, dear Jesus! How we need You to arise, conquer and prevail, for a climate of fear spreads throughout the land. Evil prevails in many lands and people. The battle has already been won by You, our conquering King! Arise, and take Your rightful place for, it is written, ~And the God of peace shall bruise Satan under your feet shortly~! Thank you, our kind, King! How we look for that day! You conquered through the cross, for it says, You quickened us together with You, having forgiven us all, and You blotted out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to Your cross. You ~spoiled principalities and powers, ~ making ~a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it. ~ (Your cross). You conquered by shedding your precious blood on that cruel cross for us. God died for you, dear reader, God died for me. It looked, on that darkest of days, as if You had been conquered. But then, three days later You broke the power of death, and arose from the grave! Gross darkness had covered the land but then You shattered the darkness with the greatest Light by rising from the dead! You are that great Light, dear Jesus. And You will never be extinguished again! Oh! Look up, dear child of God! For when ~He (Jesus) ascended up on high, he led captivity captive~! The chains that have us bound were shattered when You, oh our beloved Conqueror, rose from the dead. Whether chains of sin, shame, guilt or fear, You shattered those chains, dear Jesus! You took the enemies of our soul, whatever has us bound, and you captured them in your triumphal procession when You rose from the dead. For, we know, that when a general won a victory, he would go through the land with those who he had defeated captured and in chains behind his chariot to make a public display and to show the world that he had won the victory. You have already won the victory, our dear Jesus! Help us to appropriate Your victory for us by trusting You for it. Arise, oh most mighty Conqueror! It is time for you to take Your rightful place of victory in Your Church. Quicken us, dear LORD! Quicken us to pray, not resting until we see Your beauty and glory in the Church, again! Amen Scripture References 1. Revelation 6:2 2. Romans 16:20 3. Colossians 2: 13-15 4. Ephesians 4: 8

Hello, I'm BJ and I'm rather new to these forums. I saw this and thought I would post on this subject. I know this is for writers, and so you will all probably find my writing mistakes! I'm only a poet, I don't write much other than poems! But I will share with you anyway We have been through some bad times in the past. A lot of people right now, because of the economy, are going through what we went through fifteen years ago. My husbands business was failing and we were struggling to hold onto our home and meet the needs of our rather large family. We moved to another state where he was offered a job, before the sale of our home was complete. The sale of our home in AZ fell through, so we quit claim deeded the house to the former owners. The old owners moved into it as sort of a vacation home and made no payments on it till it was foreclosed on. We didn't know about the foreclosure because we were very mobile at the time, moving from pillar to post between Idaho and Oregon at that time. The job offered to my husband had fallen through. Before my husbands business venture, he had worked in a good job, but when the business downsized he started his own business. It was great at first...till the bottom began falling out in our community. We had a beautiful though modest home, and lots of stuff from the good times. We had five kids, two dogs and life had been sweet. Suddenly we were in the wilderness of our lives, as we refer to that time now. The money was gone, the security was gone, the stuff was gone, our home was gone, our good credit was gone. Though it was very difficult it was also a time we grew much closer to the Lord. We would have been homeless if not for the miracles and mercies the Lord provided for us. We look back on that time and praise the Lord because He kept our family together during that time as well as kept a roof over our heads. Our children learned through that time as well. They learned to appreciate each blessing, material things had quite departed from us, and at that point basic necessities became something they, and we, praised God for. Sometimes, since that time, we have gone through other hard times and sometimes I must admit that I don't quite soar through these fiery testings. It is sometimes easier to look back after the situation gets better and see what the Lord has done through that time that turns to glory before we are able to really see the good that come from those times of trial. One thing that helps us is to know during hard times of trial is that 'All things work together for good for those who love the Lord' and remember that it doesn't say 'SOME' things, but it says 'ALL' things!

quote:
How beautiful! Did you write this beautiful poem CherishedbyGod?
