Post #1446 is really important and very not funny to me. Please share any thoughts that may help...dangers we may be overlooking, suggestions, criticisms of how we may be not handling it in the best way possible...anything of any significance that may come to mind.

If nothing else, please submit a few "Pity!, Pity, Pity!!!" words for me so I know someone cares about my plight.
We had the girl call her Mom and get permission to stay over again tonight. The mom called my husband back and confirmed this with him.
Tonight we tell her that it must not happen Sunday night thru Thursday night. She will have to find another home to go to or go home and
try to learn to let "the man" thing go and be quiet about it toward her mother.

As to the need to use a bathroom, she will be reminded that she can come and use it whenever necessary because of the home situation.

Her mother may be a volatile person but there is nothing more anyone can do right now without stepping on the girl's toes.
If she runs away, she is barking right up her mother's alley. That would help her mom to push her into running up a list of cop calls for running away.
Then she will be faced with a choice between Juvenile home or the farm. She will choose the farm, mom wins.

I know it sounds unreal but it is very real.

The thing that troubles me the most is that this woman appears to have convinced herself of her own lies to where she believes that this farm will fix her allegedly troubled children and then they can come home and everything will be fine.

Of course that is ludicrous! The boy, I think 10 years old now, is scheduled to come home in December. The 14 year old may be able to also.

I keep thinking we need to get some counsel on how to handle this as friends and neighbors without getting caught in it, in trouble somehow, or causing things to be made harder for the children.

The 12 year old girl trusts me and my husband in that way that every child would like to be able to trust their own parent. We have a responsibility to not screw up. It is scary when every choice available has risks attached. The good Lord is all we have to trust in without any worries.

As far as that situation goes Karen. I don't know what else you can do. I'm totally stumped, which is why I didn't respond when I first read it. It's not that I don't care. I'm not a mean troll...at least not all mean. I think the best thing you can do is pray and ask God what to do. I'm coming up blank here. If it were me my door would be open to the girl so she could have a safe place to go, but I think you are already doing that.

I don't blame her for not wanting to be around that guy. It must be very strange for her. When my parents divored my mom introduced us to her boyfriend. He didn't move in or anything but I couldn't stand the sight of him. Everything about him disgusted me. It's weird seeing your parent with anyone other then your other parent.

Mike, I'm not sure what farm you mean... I read through the posts a little too fast, I guess..

'member the mom and children who live next door to me? Please pray for them. The mom is definitely mentally unstable and heart-hearted toward her children. She has gotten much worse over this past week.

She has a live-in handyman of sorts...supposedly she hired him to fix her main bathroom. The bathroom is tore up...the malfunctioning toilet is sitting outside and the new one is sitting on the porch. All week and no work done on the bathroom. She is "having an affair" with him, to put it politely.

The one child who hasn't been farmed out with alleged problems is the 12 year old daughter.

The daughter is standing her ground against her mom's efforts to force her to accept an invitation to come to the same farm for troubled and unwanted children that she has the other daughter and son on. Her mother is livid...mad in the head. Told her to leave and live with someone else if they will have her.

This daughter has told her mom that she will not live with her unless the live-in handyman leaves.

Now remember...this woman works for child welfare services. She is an aggressive, my-way-or-the-highway, "I'm right and everybody else is always at fault" kind of person.

Emotional and mental abuse is all too apparent at this point but doing ultimate thing could rain down much worse things on the children and I am confident that she would believe it was me who told somebody, even if I called into another county. It seems like a bad move to take the usually suggested steps that would bring on an investigation. She is very good at what she does. She knows how to blame her children and hide her own character flaws, etc...

Shucks, I'm at least as scared of her at this point also. Every suspicion I ever had about the woman have been shown to be true this week. I am very much an "innocent until proven guilty" sort and she has now realized my worst fears concerning what sort of person she might really be.

We are doing the best we can to pray, stay cool, calm, and collected, and not do or say anymore than we really must to this woman. We have got to make careful, wise decisions and not screw up for the sake of the children.

I finally had a cry yesterday. I've never seen and heard the terror of a mother hating her children up close and personal before. It is so incomprehensible.

Oh Karen I'm so sorry.

Looks to me that that woman is TROUBLE.
But, you have mentioned that you have to 'make careful, wise decisions'.
I agree!

It's hard to believe that she works at the child welfare services. How long has she worked there? Do you know anyone else that works there? I think I would get really friendly with her 'higher ups'.

Please keep us informed, Karen. I'm praying for your wisdom and for your family's safety.

Ohhhh I sure hope her potty is fixed before they go to bed together again, TODAY!

Now what is this farm like?

>Link<
I have visited a few times during Sunday church services and when the 14 yr. old got baptized. To someone my age who was raised and believes in traditional, conservative protestant tenants and ways, it was ridiculous and about emotionalism in the extreme.

I've been told by their mom and a few others that they require the children to get baptized before they will release them from the program. I did see first-hand that baptism is viewed and presented as a salvation from one's past and a cleaning of the slate to start over with your life anew without any mention of anything else.

I don't know exactly what the denomination of the church is but I am sure it is not actually non-denominational. It is within the "Church of Christ" sort of theology, which some of you may be aware has become so liberal that it is not necessary to actually believe there is a God to participate in it or even to preach.

On the good side, because they are so loose and full of modern evangelical-type practices, they don't appear to be interested in pushing points of theology like how you can supposedly lose your salvation.

I apologize if I have offended anyone by that statement. I do not mean to. I know that churches have to be considered on a case-by-case basis these days because of the way so many theologies and philosophies have been mixed and blended together in countless ways. Just trying to call 'em as I see 'em as best as I can.

As far as the rest of the deal for the kids, I think they really are caring and try to do what they say. If ones situation is bad enough at home, it would at least provide a chance for a child to feel reasonably secure and supported.

What will happen when the other two children come home in December is worrisome. I am hoping that the children might learn to pull together and support one another in dealing with problems in peacable ways. I take the daughter who is home, along with my own daughter, up to a youth group meeting at the New Life Center (Assembly of God) each Wednesday. I would like to see her be able to talk to her group leader there.

It is the best and safest church I know of in town. There youth group adds up to around 500 children.

I think we are all wondering when the other shoe is going to drop with this man she has living with her. Those of us watching these developments are convinced that he is up to no good and is not a trustworthy person. He has her bathroom all tore up at this point...broke her bathtub...removed the sink and sat it outside...the sink is gone since yesterday. The wood for a new floor base is still outside and the new toilet is sitting on the porch.

I've been trying to watch her back and keep info on vehicles and things that go on. He came and then left with a cloth bag filled halfway today. He had some woman with him and bit of conversation overheard leads me to suspect he is simply looking to take advantage of her and then maybe disappear one day. Of course she believes he is altogether trustworthy and makes excuses that don't add up for his behaviors, comings, and goings.

I won't leave at all without locking my doors all up and I am not normally that concerned. I got the daughter moved back into her own home today and she is being good about it so far. She cried herself to sleep last night and I thought it right to let her do so alone. She has to do some growing up and finding more strength in herself. I will keep trying to point her toward prayer and God. She did accept Christ as her Savior about a year or so ago.

Thanks trolls! I am a little lonely out here with all this!

You trolls might be interested (or not, like I really care ) that when I finally did get back to a relaxing game of Bejewelled I found someone (Karen ) had beat my score considerably. As if that weren't enough she also had to send me some smack talk just to rub it in. Geez some trolls around here are definitley more trolly then others. I did however accomplish my original goal of beating my own score, but instead of only playing a few games and getting to bed at a decent hour. I was up till 1 am trying to beat her unsuccessfully. I hope you are happy Karen.

No, seriously, this troll here has got to gain some concept of what going to bed at a decent hour actually means. I know it would make my Sweety very happy and give him one less thing to nag be concerned about.

BTW, anyone do those know it all trivia challenges on Facebook? It keeps score of how many challenges that you won and lost with your friends. I have really been getting into them lately.

Earlier today dark clouds started rolling in and the the wind picked up. Leaves were being yanked from branches and falling all around. The air felt cool and the rain smelled fresh. When the rain started falling I thought for sure we were in for a storm but then the wind died as suddenly as it began. What looked like a pontentially hard rain turned into a slow drizzle. No thunder, no lightning no massive downpour just a pathetic drizzle. What's even worse is that it has continued that way for several hours. Very disapointed here in case you can't tell.

Speaking of disappointment, we (those who live here) watched snow ALL DAY! I could hear trees cracking and many trees breaking all over town. Quite a few of those people lost power, I was thankful my area didn't.

Now I just glanced at my temperature thingy and it says:

It's gonna be a looonnnggg Winter.

Well, at least you got in 3.5 miles yesterday. I said forget it and I did. Aren't you in Alabama? Can't imagine that it's worse there then here.

Hey April, what's got you blue? Is it the weather? I have heard people in the North tend to get down in the winter time. Lack of sunshine and all. I think you should go outside and build me a snow man. I have never done that before. I know it would make me feel better. Just don't
make the mistake of locking yourself out, that would be really bad.

Seriously, I hope you feel better soon.

Yeah, they call it seasonal affective disorder.

His Joy, be careful about doing that! We have seen spankings take place for that before!

Thanks for praying. Things took another bad turn tonight at the neighbor's house. The mom is monstrous but she won because the police will listen and believe her lies and no one listens and takes the child seriously. I went out and walked and ran for 30 minutes in the cold. It was just the thing! It calmed me down.

Maybe I should open this topic up on my Facebook profile and explain this there. Or maybe I will explain it in a PM. It is so totally inappropriate for a troll thread to go on and on about something like this. I don't want to get blamed for causing the troll thread to get moved into a serious, tear-jerker folder.

Please pray that my husband and I keep trying to do what God wants, no matter how much we really don't want to. I believe God wants us to continue with her as we have learned to over the past few years. We understand that part. hh is going to go and discuss the matter with a district judge he knows pretty well, without mentioning any names, to try to get a handle on the choices available for what maybe could be done. I keep saying to keep looking at it from the children's viewpoint and their best interests only. Nothing else could be the right thing to do, in my humble opinion.

I have to say that perhaps the woman is afraid of what she might be capable of and maybe at least cares enough to get the children away from her. Thing is, it is only a temporary solution for her own problems. She doesn't appear to be concerned about whether or not her children ever love her again. I never felt loved by my mother and eventually gave up trying, but my mother was not a monster who abused me literally.

...'kay! No more sad, serious stuff in this thread from me!

Euty, do you have a fancy typewriter that has a degrees symbol or did you copy and paste it in?

Hold down the [Alt] key and type 0176, the degree symbol will then appear: °

There used to be a Windows character program that showed which [Alt]+number combinations create which special characters. But inside Word you can find thm under Insert/Symbol.

If you have the time, you can type a series of [Alt]+numbers to see what results, beginning with [Alt]+0174 = ®

I'm forgetting something else because I still have no symbol...hmmm...What character code should I be set on in my browser?

I didn't realize until your post that it only works with the number pad because I almost always use it to type in numbers. I used to know an engineer that turned off his number pad even though his keyboard already had keys that did those secondary functions.

Good Afternoon Trolls! I am feeling rather tired today and I got to get myself ready to face the rest of the week. I have a job interview tomorrow and then next week I am getting some oral surgery done as well.

BTW, Karen, you changed your handle! When I first looked I was trying to figure out why this apparently new poster knew so much about the situation that you were talking about. I was starting to think that she was the woman who you were talking about instead!
