I hope you had a wonderful birthday, Karlie. Any sign of the Olive Garden yesterday?

All the best for your first day back at school. Let us know how it all goes.

Thanks everyone

Birks?? I'd call that a Sucky Birthday! I did get a new miniature shoe for my collection...totally adorable, some perfume and a candle. We stayed low key with presents this year...everyone is on a pretty tight budget right now, so I asked everyone to skip the gifts. It's not like I need anything anyway. Time with my family is what I really wanted, and I got that.

Trish, no Olive Garden on my birthday...WHN and my dad hate Italian food, so I save that for special lunches with my girls. When we're all going together, we usually go my other favorite, Mexican food, which everyone likes.

Yep, my first class begins tonight. I'm very excited. It's taken me 7 years to get to this point!

I know. It's hard to believe I am finally to this point. I went only port time for awhile, so that slowed me down some. This program will be a challenge...basically 2 years worth of school crammed into 18 months. But, I'm ready!

I'm cleaning like a mad woman again...I am definitely nervous!

Port time?

Aw man.... I missed it!

Good catch Trish!

Maybe it has to do with that kind of wine?

Hey Guys!

First day of class went well. It's a small class, which is good for this kind of training, and all "real" adults. I am very thankful for that. It's nice to be with students who've had some life experience than the usual college age crowd. I really like the professor too.

It will take more studying than ever to come out with decent grades, or even to pass these courses! Not just because they are more intense, but their grading standard is way different than other university standards. Here, 95 is the lowest grade you can get to have an A(usually it's down to 90), and the cut off for a B is 89, and normally down to 80 will give you a B. That's not a lot of points to play with at all! And since all courses have to be passed with a B or better, that means an 88 is failing. So, I will be studying my tush off!

Trish and Ben...

Better stay away from that port wine then, if you want to stay as sharp as you can.

Yes, heed Ben's words.

No port.

I've actually found Pignot Grigio to be better for the mind.

Or is that for the imagination?

Oh well. One of those two.

Karlie, not to minimize the grading scale and how much studying that will take . . . but do you know that everytime you start a new season of school, you tell us how much more studying you're going to have to do in order to pass . . . and then you not only pass, you do so with flying colors!

The above is a backward attempt at encouragement for you.

I'm with Bill on this one . . . you're going to get your Masters and it's not going to surprise us one bit. It's just who you are.

Happy Studying, Bottoms Up and please pass the wine.

That is tough!

There were a few classes I took that I hated where I literally calculated my pints to see how little work I could get away with to get a C.

Catherine, what was in the pints?

~~~~~~~~~~
Karlie, I don't have a doubt in my mind that you will achieve what you have set out to achieve. You have heard the call, have the will, faith and drive, have seen with your own eyes the desperate need for advocacy for children who have no control over their own lives and in faith answered that call. There are some children and families out there waiting just for YOU.
(((((Karlie)))))
Now get back to work lady and hit those books!!
LOL! Sharon, I was going to comment on that, but decided to leave it for one of y'all.
Personally, I like a dark, stout Guiness.
Oh, man...I never did that, not even when I hated a class! I have to know at the end of a class that whatever grade I got, I did it to the best of my ability. And if you want into a masters program eventually, those grades come back to bite you!
Awww, thank you, Sharon...that's a very sweet thing to say :)
I really hope I never have the need to go back to school. Whenever I hear other people's school woes I think, "I am so glad I am done!" I got my associates and that is enough for me.
