ORIGINAL: accent It has been reported that Brandon the bass singer for The Old Paths has left the group and they are now back singing as a trio. Where was it reported? This saddens me if it's true. The Old Paths are a dynamite group of singers!

I felt like if they could keep that lineup together, they were on their way to becoming one of the top quartets in SG music. Brandon posts on here some, maybe he could enlighten us.

I just talked with Doug and he says Brandon is gone. They are singing as a trio for now until they find a replacement. They are already looking for another GOOD bass singer.

I'm glad to hear that they are planning on adding a bass singer. I still believe that with the right bass, they are on their way to being on of the top quartets around.

Consistency plays such a major role in the success of any group, and can be very upsetting to the fans when a member change takes place. Now, I'm not in management position, so I'm not sure what the plans are as far as press releases and such, but I will say that Brandon is a great talent, and has a heart of gold. He was there for me several years back when I was fighting a battle of depression. He was a friend when I needed someone to just listen. He may shoot me for this, but I'm gonna spill the beans for him.... he and his wife, Christine are expecting their second child. They just found out a week ago. Please pray for Brandon and his family as they grow in the Lord, and as a family. As for the Old Paths, our success has been seeing countless people come to know Jesus, and to witness the hurt and rejected come to realize that there is a new chapter for them. For us, it's not just singing good 'ole gospel songs from the red-back hymnal to bring a smile to your face. Its a team of evangelists singing and preaching the gospel. Its not just churches and concert halls. Its going out into the world to reach the lost and bring them in. It is always nice to garner the respect and friendship of those in the southern gospel music industry, but in all reality it could all fade away tomorrow, and for us, we want to count for our Saviour. He is still leading us, and providing for us. If the Old Paths can be a part of an industry and progress within it, then that will allow us to grow nationally and be a vehicle for our music and message of Christ's salvation. So don't get me wrong...being one of the top quartets is great, but not our top priority. As for any group....things change...it doesn't mean the end, or a step back. I think you will be very suprised in the near future with our growth as a group, and a ministry. So sit back and watch....we're only getting started!

I love this group and they have moved into my top 5 favorites. I hate to see their bass singer leave, but am confident they'll find a really good replacement. They're singing for the Lord so I firmly believe they'll do just fine.

LOL....no...we are just called the Old Paths. Doug introduced the band as the Old Paths Band. Kinda like saying the Kingsmen band, or Gold City's Band of Gold. Doug's even joked around on the bus, playing with the name, the "Band of Old". Don't know if that would slide though...lol. Hope you enjoyed it last night. Gymnasiums are aggravating to work in.

The cd player in my pick up tends to want to keep cd's in it. Sometimes you have to hit eject 20 times before it will give it back. The Old Paths cd of hymns is stuck in it right now. I don't remember the name of the cd and can't get it out to see, but at least its one that I really enjoy.

I think you will be very suprised in the near future with our growth as a group, and a ministry. So sit back and watch....we're only getting started! I understand fully what you are saying. Sometimes we as fans get caught up in the entertainment part of it (I'm guilty of it myself) and forget about the ministry part, which is what God called you to do in the first place. I can't help but think about our situation at our church. Our pastor resigned about four or five months ago. Many churches would suffer going that long without a pastor. Our church on the other hand is doing great. We've seen as many souls saved in the last four months as we had in the last two years combined. The reason we are staying strong as a church is because it wasn't God's plan for us to take a step backwards. Just as I believe it's not God's plan for the Old Path's to take a step backwards. Whatever God has in store for the Old Paths, I will continue to support you and pray for you. May God bless.

its a shock that brandon is leaving! However, the Lord has it in control and the Old paths will find another quality bass singer. I hope brandon doesn't shy away from the boards, as he has contributed some good stuff here. all in all...the old paths rock. That reminds me...how many of ya'll have the new live cd/dvd? I haven't had a chance to order it yet. I've seen a few say they've picked it up.
