GrapeApe: Okay, but I guess yours is a quite sweeping statement, but you're entitled to your very conservative views. (I actually have what would be described as conservative theological views from the Bible, but when it comes to the external stuff like this, I'm not sure how conservatism in theology and conservatism in stuff like guys' earrings need to go together.) Take care. quote:

I got my one ear pierced back in my late 30's. Over the years the hole closed up. Now in my early 50's and my wife wants me to get the earring again.

stamper_ben: Hi, so are you going to do it, (and is your wife herself into piercings? lots of ladies in their 40s and 50s have gotten double and triple ear piercings, anyway). quote:

humbleinspirit: Oh a piercing and tattoo parlor will usually offer a range of services, including ear piercing. There is bound to be one not far from you, I guess, if you decide to go ahead. (I get the impression you are still thinking about it and haven't decided.) quote:

I feel one earring would be enough, especially a cross, The bible stated that if a slave who was set free but wished to stay he was to nail his ear to the masters door post. An earring could be used to make a simular statement

I have never liked earings in men. Actually, I would say that I have never liked piercings in anyone - male or female. I would go as far as to say that too many people think that they can improve on what the Lord has given us, so cosmetic surgery, tattoos and piercings are all in that category. Just my opinion.

An earring could be used to make a simular statement I believe that it is more a cultural thing. While I think a man piercing 2 ears is rather effeminate, the same thing could be said of a man during my teenage years who pierced even only one ear also. And if you want to be technical, the Beattles back in the day were considered to have long hair when they were out, which no one thinks that they really did these days.

Humbleinspirit: Okay, but ear piercing for men is even in the Bible, like with the Old Testament bondservant who when offered his freedom chose to use it by serving his master for ever. It links in with Ps. 40, 'Mine ears hast thou oppened', opened, = "digged" in Hebrew, i.e., pierced.

But the reason why one would do it today is not to show a sign of slavery, but for fashion sake instead.

humbleinspirit: Maybe, or maybe not. In any case, you can get eg Christian fish earrings (there is a bit of discussion of that actually with a man on another thread on this site). quote:
