FGWL, this thread had been filled with examination of the doctrine and practice of Todd Bentley. Sure some took it to other levels, but it was examination and instruction on what is occurring. The man then brought himself into repute and here we are. Now certainly you could debate biblical restoration. It is well documented here, what happened no need to rehash. The only stone throwing going on really is from you FGWL. You say deception in the church matters to you great. You identify heretics within emergence, great. Yet, may you not have a blindspot? We all do...

True peace is not the absence of conflict, it is surrender to the King of Kings.

He needs much more than to take a timeout. As much as I've said this I think some don't get it...you can't restore someone who's got a whack view of Christianity by making sure everyone's okay with his marriage, divorce, marriage. I said a long time ago this would be used to deflect criticism of Lakeland and that's what's happening.
So now, not only are you the authority on all things doctrinal and theological, but now you know the inner-workings of what happens between Todd Bentley and Rick Joyner? Are you purporting to be a prophet like Elisha, or are you merely assuming? Once again, assumption, instinct, and gut level reactions are ruling your thoughts.

Rick Joyner would definitely put me on the "gray" side of his Civil War "revelation". I still don't know what makes some people buckle under when they are told that someone is a "prophet" or has greater revelation than they do, or a supposed greater gifting. Perhaps it's the threat that goes hand-in-hand with the "prophetic authority", that they will be ostracized for daring to deny this "authority".

It's always something wrong with those who disagree with the wannabe Apostles, never that they are not who they say they are.

TB needs to get a w a y f r o m Joyner/NAR/Patricia King and that entire version of Christianity.
... and he needs to turn to what, exactly? Considering that prototypical Evangelicalism is hemorrhaging members and creating Christians that cannot offer a reasonable defense of orthodoxy, I can't say that it is exactly that much better of a proposition.

He doesn't need a new gimmick to turn to. Reading the Bible and rejecting extra-Biblical claims that lead astray -- knowing and loving God for His grace and mercy and peace, and living in His will -- is enough. We have the deposit of the Apostles in the New Testament. We don't need any new ones and we don't need to seek any spiritual roots in William Branham or his offshoots, don't need his angel,(strangely male if it's also supposed to be angel Emma), don't need to pray with Bob Jones until we drift into a realm and smell flowers (good grief), don't need Brownsville pastors endorsing "revival", and basically we need to please God. The name of Jesus doesn't get any benefit from the hype of false claims ( "completely deaf before", "raised from the dead", etcetera).

Come on...haven't we seen enough crying, disappointed people in wheelchairs, parents with sick children (or even dead) from Kuhlman to Hinn to Brownsville to Lakeland, going away in the devastation of disappointment to be sickened by these things and isn't it _enough_ to turn away from them?

And I say if someone goes on a worldwide webcast in the name of Jesus and draws even secular news media attention, someone should speak out about a circus of antics and wild claims so that those who were deceived, confused or even curious would know that there's still truth and there is still courage to discuss the problems.
And you know what, I'm thinking that Jesus' words carry a little bit more weight than your apparent wounded pride at someone indirectly giving you a black eye. Honestly, the Apostles in Acts 2 were considered to be drunk at nine in the morning, and the early church was considered to be barbarians worthy of nothing but slaughter. The church's reputation is in God's care, not ours.

Ad hominem gets you nowhere. "What? ...despise ye the church of God...? what shall I say to you? shall I praise you in this? I praise you not." from 1 Corinthians 11:22

Yes, indeed......... thank the Lord for our soapboxes...

And what *exactly* are you doing here?

quote:

And warning the innocent is launching a propaganda campaign against Todd Bentley? Here's a thought... teach the truth instead of decrying the lies.

We have pointed out the truth, but you rant against that as well. There is nothing wrong with comparing the truth to the lies. But you will never be happy either way because the truth happens to strike down the people you defend.

quote:

Except that he repented... hence the whole bit of sitting under Rick Joyner... oh yeah, most people here have reserved the same kind of ilk for him.

FACT: He's still preaching the same false teachings TODAY. He's still pushing the same false miracles TODAY. He's still holding himself up as a leader and a teacher and a 'super special prophectic guy' TODAY. I've listened to his current webinars. I've read his current writings. Nothing has changed. There is no repentance. End of story.

Also a FACT: With Joyner doing the leading, it's the blind leading the blind. I'm truly sorry you can't see the blatantly obvious writing on the wall when it comes to false prophets and false teachers. By defending them, you put yourself on the same level.
