I know that my SIL couldn't eat pepperoni, salami etc on pizza, my niece would be SOOOOOO fussy after that. I know myself I can't eat sausages as they are always repeating on me. So maybe it was that? She does nurse alot I guess, do you think maybe she is getting a bellyache and you are mistaking that for hunger, so you feed her again and then she gets fussy because of a full belly? I don't know, I am just going through things the nurses on the call line said to me with Nath when we were trying to work things out. When she is fussy, what happens to make her not fussy? does she pass wind, get a cuddle from you? What makes her stop? Did you see if she has any sores in her mouth and checked her gums? You know how you give her one side it seems quite often, have you tried giving her both sides instead? Maybe she needs a little break, burp etc, little play for a moment, and then would take more?

Nicole - thanks for the suggestions =) We are thinking it might be tomatoes, since last Friday night we had spaghetti for dinner and she was MISERABLE all day Saturday - crying nonstop, and she seems to have a fussy day after we eat pizza. quote:
When she is fussy, what happens to make her not fussy? does she pass wind, get a cuddle from you? What makes her stop? Cuddles, bouncing, patting, etc. It's not generally gas, although of course when she does have a trapped burp or a toot coming sometimes she fusses for a minute or two. quote:
Did you see if she has any sores in her mouth and checked her gums? Checked - nothing. quote:
You know how you give her one side it seems quite often, have you tried giving her both sides instead? Maybe she needs a little break, burp etc, little play for a moment, and then would take more? She used to take only one breast per feed, then went to both (or more!) per feed, and now she seems to be back to one breast per feed. When she was taking both sides, she was eating just as frequently, so I don't think that's it. I do offer the second side, she just doesn't take it - I think I've just got a frequency girl! She also is quite quick at draining one side - 5 or 10 minutes, so to nurse her that frequently isn't *really* a big to-do. I guess I've just got to keep telling myself that this is how my baby is

Kim, does she always fuss on the same side? Chase used to always fuss on the left side, so when that would happen I would offer the other side for a few minutes and then switch back. Have you tried anything like that, or do you even notice if it happens on the same side all of the time?

Oh yay Erin! Gettin' the real stuff now. Great for pumping at night, and I bet it does seem more worth it now. Great! Kim, I couldn't eat any tomato sauce when I was nursing my oldest until he was around 6 months old. And, that may have only been because I hardly nursed him as he was mostly formula fed by then. Yup, tomato sauce, OJ, lemonade and other acidic foods seemed to bother my kids second hand.

ORIGINAL: Royal.Fortress Personally, I would rather have a thumb sucker than a pacifier-sucker. Even at age 2, 3, 4, 5 or older? That's what it can come to with thumb-sucking. Whereas pacifier-sucking can be stopped whenever you wish it to. I surely do agree with Manda on this one! It's easier at the beginning if they're thumb suckers cause they can find it on their own without you having to get up and pop it back in for them. But it's way easier to stop the habit by taking away the soother.

Erin I am delighted for you!! Kim- try cutting out the tomato then and some other things that you know could repeat (I would bet salami, sausage etc would too, they have onion and garlic galore in them). LOL Sarah I laughed at how you lost your pen, when I do that (which is not me losing it but hubby taking it) I get one of Grace's crayons.
