The pacifier doesn't provide milk, so believe me, when she is hungry the pacifier won't do at all!

I know that my SIL couldn't eat pepperoni, salami etc on pizza, my niece would be SOOOOOO fussy after that. I know myself I can't eat sausages as they are always repeating on me. So maybe it was that?

She does nurse alot I guess, do you think maybe she is getting a bellyache and you are mistaking that for hunger, so you feed her again and then she gets fussy because of a full belly? I don't know, I am just going through things the nurses on the call line said to me with Nath when we were trying to work things out.
When she is fussy, what happens to make her not fussy? does she pass wind, get a cuddle from you? What makes her stop?
Did you see if she has any sores in her mouth and checked her gums?

You know how you give her one side it seems quite often, have you tried giving her both sides instead? Maybe she needs a little break, burp etc, little play for a moment, and then would take more?

Nicole - thanks for the suggestions =) We are thinking it might be tomatoes, since last Friday night we had spaghetti for dinner and she was MISERABLE all day Saturday - crying nonstop, and she seems to have a fussy day after we eat pizza.

Cuddles, bouncing, patting, etc. It's not generally gas, although of course when she does have a trapped burp or a toot coming sometimes she fusses for a minute or two.

Checked - nothing.

She used to take only one breast per feed, then went to both (or more!) per feed, and now she seems to be back to one breast per feed. When she was taking both sides, she was eating just as frequently, so I don't think that's it. I do offer the second side, she just doesn't take it - I think I've just got a frequency girl! She also is quite quick at draining one side - 5 or 10 minutes, so to nurse her that frequently isn't *really* a big to-do. I guess I've just got to keep telling myself that this is how my baby is

Isaac got 2ml of milk (given over one hour) every three hours yesterday. He did good, he did have to have a baby lax to get him to poop. Today he will get 5ml (given over an hour) every three hours. Mama better get to work! Though I got up during the night the past two nights...so proud of me. It makes it seem more worthwhile now that he is actually getting some of the milk.

Kim, does she always fuss on the same side? Chase used to always fuss on the left side, so when that would happen I would offer the other side for a few minutes and then switch back.
Have you tried anything like that, or do you even notice if it happens on the same side all of the time?

Oh yay Erin! Gettin' the real stuff now. Great for pumping at night, and I bet it does seem more worth it now. Great!

Kim, I couldn't eat any tomato sauce when I was nursing my oldest until he was around 6 months old. And, that may have only been because I hardly nursed him as he was mostly formula fed by then. Yup, tomato sauce, OJ, lemonade and other acidic foods seemed to bother my kids second hand.

Yolanda - hubby thought that too - until he saw her do the same thing on the other side

Sarah - good to know that it's similar. I guess most people I know have every 2 - 3 hour babies whereas we're blessed with every 1 - 2 hour babies. It helps when I remember that all books and experts say newborns nurse every 1.5 - 2 hours. She seems to just be one to go 1.5. And really, when I don't offer until she's good and ready, it's significantly less frustrating.

Christina - Is that true? I loooooove pizza and pasta. Maybe this'll make me more healthy?? Look on the bright side, right?

Erin - that's awesome =) Glad his little tummy is handling your milk!!

Erin -- That is awesome that Isaac is able to get some of his mommy's magic milk (that is what my sister calls it and it has stuck). I am so happy

Personally, I would rather have a thumb sucker than a pacifier-sucker.

Even at age 2, 3, 4, 5 or older?

That's what it can come to with thumb-sucking.

Whereas pacifier-sucking can be stopped whenever you wish it to.

I surely do agree with Manda on this one!

It's easier at the beginning if they're thumb suckers cause they can find it on their own without you having to get up and pop it back in for them. But it's way easier to stop the habit by taking away the soother.

I have a feeling the I-man will be a thumb sucker. Right now he literally gets mad because he cant get his thumb in his mouth with his vent tube there. They had to get him a pacifier and somehow got it in there since he kept moving his vent tube by trying to suck on it. But now that the tube is out he can actually suck...yay..I cant tell ya'll how excited I am about the tube being gone...even though its off topic for this thread I'm gonna share it everywhere....I'm going to SPAM ya'll with my excitement...no more vent!! YAYY!!

Erin I am delighted for you!!

Kim- try cutting out the tomato then and some other things that you know could repeat (I would bet salami, sausage etc would too, they have onion and garlic galore in them).

LOL Sarah I laughed at how you lost your pen, when I do that (which is not me losing it but hubby taking it) I get one of Grace's crayons.

LOL...I can't write with much of anything because of the carpel tunnel in my wrist.....I can hardly write with any pen or pencil...I pretty much have to have a smooth writing pen (like a gel type pen) or else I can't write very much at all. All the pens I could find were either out of ink or I couldn't write with very well. We REALLY REALLY need to get our office set up...I am going crazy with all this disorganization!!! Usually I have all the pens in the house in a bucket on a shelf....pencils in another bucket, crayons in another, etc. I have found that any other way and we find random things written on walls or furniture that "Not Me" seems to do...and since I can't seem to make "Not Me" realize that I don't want him/her around, I found it best to confiscate all writing utensils...lol. OK...that was sooooo off topic.

now for on-topic....we went by the mall (Motherhood Maternity) and I got two nursing bras!!! YAY!!!! I only had one that fit right that the clasps weren't broken on or that wasn't so worn out it needs to be tossed. So I got two new ones...one is like a sports type bra so it's comfy enough to wear around the house all the time...YAY!!!

Well, it's been two days since I've eaten anything acidic - tomatoes/tomato sauce and orange
