Dh did quit the bus driving position. Now, he is depressed about that decission. So far, jobs have been few and far between, so there is a little bit of a worry there. I am disapointed a little, but am trying to be encouraging in his decisions. In some ways, I was tempted to call and ask the school if I could take it. It would probably be one of the better jobs out there to work with homeschooling... but I told Dh that I would be afraid of getting in over my head. I have a full plate with my family, foot ball, play practice, and Noah, orthodontist appt. and homeschooling the 6 yr old more consistently. Supper would have to be a little bit late (but not terribly late) and I am not really ready to join the work force anyways. I am VERY tired today and am anxious to go to bed for the night. Noah didn't sleep well last night. From 10-midnight he "comfort" breastfed. I finally put him in his crib to let him cry for a while. He cried for 5 minutes, then decided to "talk". I don't know what he was saying since he makes sounds instead of actually words. But, he puts 3 sounds together when he wants someone to come to him. It was funny! Over and over and over again for 5 minutes straight he would make these sounds and he would get louder and louder. It sounded like "come get me"... any of my other kids would of just cried themselves to sleep. Of course, I had to get him after he was so sweetly calling for someone for over 5 minutes straight. Then, he continued to comfort suck the rest of the night Tonight I won't get much sleep either since I will be leaving around 3am to get him to his appointments in the morning.

I'll probably chat since DH is working late... Ezri, I just added a sticky note to my prayer list to remember to pray for ya'll. Pre-deployment/deployment/post deployment all just stinks.

Awww, Sarah, your poor babies! They are starving and they have to clean too??? Next thing ya know, you'll probably be making them play with toys or something. Annie, I hope you get some sleep and your dh finds something that will work for him. I am liking my rental car and think I will try to look for one like it. I am hoping to go car shopping with dh tomorrow. Pray that goes well - he tends to be very unrealistic about what things cost in general, and I know he is gonna think he can pick up something decent for around $3K. Ummm, no, you are gonna get something like what we're getting rid of for $3K. We are most likely going to argue because he will tell me that whatever they want for a decent used car is too much, but I have to have a reliable car. I had asked him to do a little online research so he had a clear idea of what we are likely to spend, but I don't think he did.

Hey, I am up before any of ya'lls....except maybe hischoosen...lol. She is probably out jogging, or swimming...lol Noah is a little stinker. He woke me up, I started to feed him, then I remembered that I couldn't because of the fast, so I pulled him off of me. (I almost didn't remember about the fasting)! I went to the shower to get away from him and told DH to help. Noah went to the bathroom door and cried for maybe...30 seconds. Then, he went directly to our kitchen table and climbed on top of it and made his 3 little sounds again that he does when he wants someone to get him. Geeezzzzz.... do you think he has me wrapped around his finger or what?!?!?! Of course, I'm going to get him down!!! He get's stuck up there. So, out the bathroom I come, to rescue him, and he gives me big hugs! I bring him back to his daddy who is suppose to be helping but isn't fully awake yet.

Annie - glad you remembered about the fasting!! Does Noah have a procedure or test today? Praying all goes well! Cindy - My dh always looks used cars up on Kelly Blue Book. If you have some makes/models/years in mind, you could go there & see what they are worth OR you can search by price range. Don't know if that will help or not. I'll be praying that you all find a good, reliable car for a fair price & that you and your dh are able to be in agreement on it! I have to defrost our big upright freezer (that is in the garage) today! I finally found the book for it. It doesn't have a drain pan (I checked), so they say to put towels or newspaper in the bottom & unplug it. If the frost is hard (which it most definitely is), put deep pans of boiling water in there & close the door. This is how my mom always defrosted our big old behemoth chest freezer, but I didn't know if I had to do something different for this newer one. I'm glad I found the book & know it's OK to do it this way. I'm also glad it's in the garage, so if it does leak out - no big deal. I have to do it today because our freezer in the house (the little one on the fridge) is mostly empty & I can put our pints of applesauce in it while the big freezer is defrosting. I want to go to the commissary tomorrow (since dd & I have eye appointments that are up by the base), so after that there will be too much in the inside freezer to hold all the applesauce! Anyway, that's my exciting plans for the morning!

Nope! I slept in this morning. Things between dh and I are the worst they ever have been, giving me serious concerns about our future. I've not been eating or sleeping. My big race of the season is this weekend and I need to be rested. So I didn't set my alarm, figuring I'd get up when I got up. Ds3 and I ran at the track. I never run at the track but because I got up so late, I didn't have time to do my run, then take ds3 to the track. So I ran at the track. I ended up running 4.25 miles at a 8:29pace, which isn't much slower than my recent race pace. Ops...

Sorry to back to back post here, but this is cracking me up. Okay, hate to admit it, but we have the Olympics on TV while we're doing school. I know, distractions, etc. But, it's the Olympics... Anyway, we couldn't figure out who was playing. They were going on and on about the US, but not about the other team. They had the flag up, but we didn't know what it was. So, ds3 got up and went into the living room. I was about to tell him to plant his butt and get his math done. Here he comes with the Flags book. He was able to identify the flag. Then, he went and got the atlas and found the country. Where but in home school could he do that?

I'd have the Olympics on except A-we don't have TV and B-I would boycott because they are in China and I think that is reprehensible. So, I told Nate that the only team I'd been able to find for him was at the middle school. He said that was fine. I said, "and J is on that team" and he said, 'Never mind, then!' J is in his Jukido class and has caused him a lot of problems. 75% of them are J's fault, but the rest is a result of Nate butting heads with him and looking for his errors because he'd already had bad experiences with him, if you kwim. Sensei has been working with him (and had him join adult class for a little extra discipline--part of it is that this boy's father, while married to the mom and really loving his family--has to work all over the country and so he's not really there much. They also have 3 daughters, all of whom are really wonderful girls, ages 17 down to 7, so they are good parents, this child is just having some troubles) and things are a bit better, but Nate feels that this one boy could keep Nate from being able to make friends on the team, which is something he has trouble doing anyway. So, I am very close to requiring him to play because I think it's something he needs to do in order to get over himself! What do you think? I normally don't require those things, but I don't want to allow this kid to insulate himself overly much. Oh, my middle sis showed up at class last night crying 'cause she had just talked to my dad. Dad had told her about Brandon (who, btw, came while I was at class with Nate and took everything he wanted including his kitty cat) and she was upset by that-she doesn't handle that type of thing well. AND, Sensei and another black belt are planning to visit Brandon this afternoon. I think that's all my news this morning. I could be wrong, though, lol.

Jen, I don't know if I'd require Nate to play. I understand not wanting him to insulate himself, but why put him in something you're already pretty sure will be a bad experience? If his predictions turn out to be true and this boy does get between Nate and the other kids, it will just discourage Nate from trying anything else. I would try to find something else and let him have some positive experiences before requiring him to toughen up and deal with it - which obviously does have to happen at some point, but with all that's going on in your lives, maybe not right now? I hope Sensei can talk some sense into Brandon. He was chatting with Ash for awhile last night. She did her best but isn't sure she got anywhere with him. She said it's obvious that someone's feeding him the abuse angle, but in general he's behaving like a 2 year old. It is ALL about him. He apparently resents anything you do that is not directly for him - he went on and on about you buying clothes for Nate and he didn't get anything. Everything should be "fair" - if Nate gets something, Brandon should get something too, no matter if he just got the moon and Nate didn't. Ash was ready to choke him by the end of it. Her summary was that he has a deep, serious selfish streak and God's gotta get him because she doesn't think anyone else will be able to.

I'm glad he's talking to Ash, and I agree with her assessment! She's a good influence on him, and a lot of fun, so I hope he continues to chat with her. Nate has already made a lot of headway in many areas, and for all we know, this boy will make the A team this year and they won't even play together. I intend to ask my sister if any of the boys from her youth group are on that team, since Nate enjoyed his times there. I don't want to 'force' him but I also don't want him ending up like my middle sister, who doesn't allow herself to be challenged. It's a fine line to walk. So, I just asked Nate if he wanted to do dishes or handwriting practice first. He said, 'this early?' and I said, 'yes, I am tired of you wanting lunch when we finally get started, so from now on we'll do chores and some schoolwork before lunch, and you can do your math after lunch' (remember, he says he can't do math in the morning, lol) He chose handwriting. So, he's sitting there on the couch and we haven't seen sunlight yet today and he is on the non-lamp side of the couch, so I ask him if he has enough light. He said, "Mom, you don't have to ask me that anymore. I'm older now and I know when I have enough light or when I need more. So you don't have to worry about that." It must seem totally schizophrenic to want him to play on a team and do hard things but to still wish he needed me to tell him to put on a jacket and turn on a lamp.

Here is Noah's Update Things went really well with the fasting thanks to an Ergo Baby carrier. I have only had it a couple of weeks but what a life saver! It has been a long day and it is only 1:30. As soon as Noah takes a nap, I will too!!

I think Ash is our new forums hero now! Good for her Cindybode! I'm not sure Nate should be forced to play this season either. Just like we tell public schooled parents to have a decompression time before they start homeschooling, both you and Nate need a decompression time from all the stress you've been under. I also wonder if J reminds Nate of Brandon and that's why Nate doesn't want to bother with him-knowing that like Brandon, nothing will change? I am not allowed to view Noah's update.

Well, I have talked to Nate, and the crux of the issue, I think, is that he feels he won't be allowed to fit in because he's a homeschooler. I told him I felt he was being just as prejudiced as any PSer to think that no PSers would be accepting of him. We are still discussing it, but I really do think this is an attitude in Nate that needs correcting, and that this experience could be an eye opener (although I suppose he could be right, lol). Also, he should not let fear of one child have so much power over his decisions.
