Yes, I agree. They are very brave workers! Considering they're walking on foot, I give them kudos.
The meter readers in Detroit ride around in little tiny cars. I guess if things get ugly, they can jump in and drive off. I was parked too close to the curb the other day at the post office. I saw the meter-lady eyeing my car. I was gonna move, but once she saw me and realized the car wasn't empty--she drove off. *phew* I got lucky that time. lol
I try really hard to park where I'm suppose to. So, I don't get many tickets. I was shocked to see that one guy who had $1,500 in parking tickets! That's such a waste of money in my opinion.
