ORIGINAL: weeble I read yesterday that the Kate Gosslin costume was one of the most popular for Halloween this year, along with Michael Jackson outfits. Very true. I went to a costume party last Saturday that had a Jon and Kate Gosselin look-a-like contest. There were 25 couples that entered. Many had entire scenes from the show memorized, and they performed the scenes on a loveseat. It was horrible, but like a car accident, you couldn't look away. And strangely funny. All the "Kates" wore similar wigs. <shiver> That sound really funny, but maybe 25 was a few too many to enjoy. I've not seen the show, other than the occasional clip on TV, but the scenes the many "Kates" and "Jons" depicted were sureal. A friend that watched the program said that several contestants were fairly accurate and true to the show. The other contestants were over the top, broad reactions, campy dialouge. That brought the biggest laughs. The winners had a grim, sinister aspect. "Kate" had a vague threat to anything she said. "Jon" was wincing and beaten, a flat tone to his responses. An awful pair of scary monsters.

The new status of the duo's relationship comes on the heels of Glassman's highly charged interview with TV's The Insider in which she claimed Gosselin was emotionally abusive and threw "mantrums." Gosselin claims there are no hard feelings, despite the harsh criticism and claims that he was in fact, proud of her honesty. According to Gosselin, "I was standing right there [at The Insider]. Mike [Gosselin's manager] was standing right there. He was looking at me like, 'Oh my god, what is she saying?' He's looking at my career going down the tubes and I'm thinking, 'Good for her, she got all of this out.' " LINK to rest of the article. Somehow I'm not surprised by this at all. Hailey needs to get out while she can! Some men are very adept at making it seem like most of the marital discord is their spouse's fault when in fact they are the ones egging it on behind the scenes by being emotionally/verbally/physically abusive or passive aggressive or whatever... Like I've been saying all along I don't think it's been a case of bad Kate, poor Jon. Sometimes things just aren't what they seem to be from the outside looking in. Well, hopefully they are going to start heading in the right direction and start working together as a team in doing what's best for their children.

Ha! I happened to see that interview and it was the most contrived piece of garbage ever to air on a nationally-syndicated show.

I watched the interview. I just can't muster up any sympathy for her. She said that they didn't start out doing the show for the money but then would say how they wouldn't have been able to provide on a nursing and IT salary. I wonder if she realizes that they are not the only family with 8 children. It would have been hard in the beginning, no doubt about that. But the kids are older now and in school. They could have easily gone back to their normal jobs and still take care of their kids. Being a nurse has pretty flexible scheduling. She could have worked nights, or weekends. She could do 3 12 hour shifts and be home 4 days. Yes it is hard but many many people do it. They might not be able to live in the mansion and take their trips but it can be done. She said that she believes that the marriage would have been over even sooner had they not done the show. When asked if doing the show was harmful to her kids she said how her kids missed the production crew and missed going on all the trips etc. Does she realize that most families do not do that stuff. That is not reality. Some families would be thrilled to be able to take a small trip once a year or every other year, not almost weekly. I think the one thing that really turned me off was when she said that her children deserved to have life handed to them on a golden plate. I think we can see already what has happened to those children by having had their life handed to them on a golden plate. The older ones act bratty when they don't get their way and now the younger ones are upset because they can't go on their trips, according to Kate. Another thing was when asked if they go to church she said yes but then said that they hadn't been in awhile. She just can't bring herself to get up and get everyone ready and go there because it just reminds her that there is only 9 and not the 10 of them. I thought she sure doesn't have any trouble gettting them ready for their many trips they took and being only 9. Of all the thing that she does, attending church should be her priority, not the show, not the trips they aren't taking anymore. There were many other things that really made me shake my head but I just can't remember them all. One thing that seemed to come through was that Kate really doesn't seem to have a clue about any part she may have had any the ending of the marriage or how doing the show had messed up her family.

TLC has been running the promo for next weeks episode. With all that is going on in this families life the episode the viewers favorite moments from the show. That just seems wrong to me to show favorite moments of a family that is breaking up.

Did anyone watch "Kate: Her Story" on Monday? Her hair was different. I really liked it. She said that she still hopes Jon will call and that it will be the "old Jon". She said even the kids say they miss the "old Jon (or dad in their case)". That was so sad.... I suppose the "old Jon" she misses was the one who put up with her verbal abuse and control issues.

I haven't watched the show since they announced their separation, but I think that watching this kind of retrospective would be very difficult for a lot of us who hoped and prayed that they'd work out their problems.
