Am I one of the last people on the planet to figure out how to use facebook? I'm on there, but I just don't get it. I'm on myspace and I don't get that either, but at least I have figured out how to message people on myspace

I'm on facebook, but I'm a tad choosy about who I become friends with. One undesirable thing about facebook is that if you become friends with someone, you are automatically exposed to all of THEIR friends.
So, for instance, a person recently requested to be friends with me. She's from my highschool graduating class, but I was NEVER friendly with her. And when I took a peek at her profile page, I was aghast to find that the boyfriend I had during highschool was a friend of hers! He was so awful to me when we broke up, and while I have forgiven him, I have no desire to have him find me again, especially since I am single again.
I'm still considering whether to accept the friendship.
So if you pm me, please don't feel offended if I do not accept facebook friendship. Facebook isn't always safe, and while I love ALL of y'all, I don't feel SAFE with all of y'all, and I would definitely not feel safe with all of everyone's friends!!!
I will answer all pms, but again...don't be offended if I choose not to add you as a friend. All apologies extended.

You can set your profile so that only your friends can see it. You can also block certain people so if you know someone is on FB you can block them so they can't see you or know that you have an account.

If they post pictures of a mutual friend I cannot see those pictures. My friend might have 25 pictures tagged of them but when I go to look at them I can only see 3 because the others are on this blocked person's page.

I'm glad you said this --- 'cause not all of us "know" one another that well... so... I think we should all try not to be offended if some choose some to "friend" and to not "friend" others.
And I understand what you mean.
Some of my high school classmates are big beer drinkers. Whereas... my current friends, coworkers, and I are on the other end of the spectrum. (Such different worlds!!) You'll find out if I friend ya.
Part of me is a leetle concerned about the possible can o' worms I might have opened up by starting this thread. But I have to believe that God can use all kinds of connections/bonding... be they here, elsewhere on the 'Net, or offline... to strengthen our friendships in Christ.
So... I'm praying that this is for the good.
