With teachings from spirit filled Pastors available at our fingertips through the internet I wanted to start a thread where we can recommend messages that have recently blessed us that we may share them so that they may bless others. "Therefore encourage one another, and build up one another..." 1 Thess 5:11 Please don't forget to share the topic of the message you are recommending. OK I'll start..... If any of you have trouble dealing with guilt I heard Part 1 of a great message today from Pastor James MacDonald teaching from Psalm 51. Topic: Freedom from guilt. http://www.walkintheword.com/broadcast.aspx

I agree, this is a great thread. I listen to a lot of podcasts at work and I can share a lot of those when I get a chance this weekend. My favourite lately is Dr Irwin Lutzer's series on The Triumph of Unanswered prayer. I'll share later what it's about.

Great idea. I thought about starting a thread similar to this many times - kind of like a "Let me tell you about the great message I heard" - kind of thing. Last week, I heard a phenomenal message from my pastor. It was about Joshua and crossing over into the promised land and facing giants. God used it to illuminate to me that there were certain giants that I was not facing - and so I was still wandering, when he had freed me from them. The way to face the giant? Do the thing that you are most afraid of, but that God is prompting you to do. It is strange - I am not afraid to do a lot of things. I can get on a plane, go to a foreign country where I don't know the language - I can get up in front of thousands of people and sing or speak - I would love to jump from a plane - am not afraid of a lot of things. But there are some very common things dealing with interpersonal relationships that often make me very scared. But, God is good and as He is bringing me deeper into relationship, it is time to face those giants. My pastor is on television - so if this particular message becomes available, I'll post it.

Mr USA, thanks for the link to the James Macdonald website. I really enjoy the Psalms 23 podcast. I gotta find the whole series. Here's the link to the one I mentioned. Erwin Lutzer is from the Moody Church in Chicago. I like him (would you believe he was originally from Canada...how cool is that?) Anyway, the series that I listened to a couple of times is calledTriumph of Unanswered prayer. He talked about the WOF movement, about prayers, about how our prayers are about relationship with our saviour and not like putting a quarter in our slot machine hoping to win something. He talked about submitting our will to him. IT's a lot of things that we already know, but good to be reminded every once in awhile. This was a 6 part series, an hour each, but you can forward through the singing and the message portion is about 40 minutes. I think it's the actual sermon in the church. The titles are: When promises don't work, when the answer is delayed, disguised, disappoints, disastrous, and denied. I listen to a lot of podcasts because the preaching in our church is watered down most of the time. This is one good thing about the invention of the Internet. Other series that I've found to be very good are the series done by Mark Driscoll (I can already hear the rebuke, lol...but i like his style). He's all about Jesus, and that's what I like. I also follow Ravi Zacharias, and sometimes, when I'm fully awake, I tune into William Lane Craig's podcasts, lol. And I almost forgot....str.org...if you like apologetics. Love that guy!

Great thread Samson! The link I would like to share was offered to me last week. It is called, LIVING AS SINGLES FOR THE GLORY OF GOD. I think the thing that struck me most from this msg was to hear a married pastor say, single or married, we all stand on even ground at the cross, marriage is not a finish line, etc. http://www.crosswaycc.net/resources/sermons/2009.htm once on this page, scroll to the above msg. Date is Feb. 8, 2009

Most Excellent Thread! Sermons are my fav! For years instead of listening to music, I've listened to sermons...before Christian radio, I belonged to a Sermon Tape library. One Place is my current favorite website. There's just never enough time to listen to them all. Yesterday, Samson, I listened to James McDonald. I really like him... solid biblically. I don't have a specific sermon which has specifically "spoken" to me lately. I like them all! ;)

Hey, I have a question about the link. You can choose the podcast or download the mp3. How is this different? BTW, some of the ministries also have video links.

Faith in your new life -based on 2 Peter 1:1-15 It's a very good reminder about how to live wisely and be fruitful. Very practical and grounded in the Word. Edit: This message was given by Mark Driscoll last Sunday at Mars Hill. I know Elena would like this...and Pruned, you might enjoy this as well. He talked a lot about pruning our lives. I always enjoy his messages because of the practical biblical wisdom he uses. I usually write down the points of the messages he preaches and even study them and check all the references.

I don't know who Jonathan Edwards is but I know he's made references about him before. I'll do some research. Funny though, as I was listening to him, my 12 year old daughter was on my bed (she's very sick right now; we both are) and I guess she was listening to the message as well. She made a comment about liking his preaching because he makes sense. That's the kind of messages I want my daughter to be exposed to so from now on, when I listen to some messages I'll make sure she's in the room. Would you believe she listens to Stand to Reason (the apologetic podcasts and is starting to asks some deep theological questions!) I listened to it twice (well, what else does one do when they're sick, lol).

Thanks for the link, PH. I'll listen to it soon! I spent the day listening to James McDonald. It was so cool... no one came... no one called... It was amazing how much I got done today without interruption! Plus! I got to listen to the Word! It was indeed awesome! Usually, I turn it on, then down for the phone call, then up, then down, then up, then down, rewind, start over.. I've missed most of it... repeat. Let me ask again. From OnePlace, does anyone know if the content from listening online is the same as the podcast is the same as the mp3? Sometimes I've heard they might each be different? Or would this vary from speaker to speaker that is ministry to ministry not the listening devices. :)

My pastor started a teaching series on 1 Corinthians 12 this past Sunday. Since I'm in children ministry during the weekend services I never get to hear the message live but listen to them online afterward. My pastor is a gifted exegetical teacher and I enjoy all of his messages but especially look forward to listening to the ones after I hear three services worth of parents rave about the message while picking up their kids. Part one of this series teaches how to indentify ones spiritual gift and then will lead into instructing one how to use what God has gifted you with in bringing Him glory through your service to Him. http://www.calvaryphx.com/calvarylive/?id=2997

I heard a wonderful message on waiting by Charles Stanley a couple of days ago on my way home. You can find it on this page and go to the message for July 8th "The Rewards of Waiting."

Samson it sounds like your're saying we need to endure the hard times when we see our peers with children and spouses.
