why do some women hate on the almighty beard so much? i think it's a guy thing... but pretty much every single one of my friends (myself included) say the bigger the beard the better, my wife hates on the beard, and her friends as well... so what do you woman say? beard yes or no?

(fun personal story... the day i proposed to my wife, i hadnt shaved in nearly 4 months... so i was rocking quite the burly beard )

Personally, I prefer no beard. If there is one, I prefer it to only be on the chin area under the mouth and very short and nicely groomed. Just a preference.

it really just depends on the guy. some guys look good with one. some guys don't. some guys don't look good without one. however, it can be ****ly and uncomfortable for kissing and snuggling, etc. (not that i know from personal experience, having never kissed a guy, but i know i've been hugged by some guys with beards and it's scratched me or just felt weird.) Generally speaking, i like some facial hair, but not necessarily a full beard.

Yeah, I figure a full beard is too much like kissing a cactus.

I don't particularly like them....long, short, whatever. However, I have been known to compliment one of those goatee thingys, but only on a very select few men.

For the most part, beards are scratchy...they're smelly, they usually have something caught in them, they age you, they make you appear heavier in the face...and some men just look so much better clean shaven.

So I am very thankful that my husband does not grow any fur on his face.

I love beards, but that doesn't include a huge man-bush that looks like Hagrid. Like the rest of our looks, a beard needs grooming.

My husband rocks a nicely trimmed beard. Now that he's gotten a little older, he looks like Santa*!

If a wife doesn't like a beard, the husband is unkind to keep it. We submit to one another in love.

A friend of mine is growing her hair back after chemotherapyand she's now got the poodle look. It's adorable, but her husband likes longer hair, so she is going to let it grow. She likes it shorter but loves her husband.

*If he wears a red sweatshirt in public, little kids will shyly come talk to him. He's very kind to them. Wow, I love that man!

I like facial hair but it has to fit the man. A full beard can make his face fuller so if he already has a full face he probably needs to go the goatee route.

Goatees are good all the way around though. Except the way my dad has his. It's bushy. I don't like bushy goatees.

I love me a rugged man!! My man doesn't have any facial hair, he's a soldier, so none for him...but he makes it sexy by shaving his head too. MMMM.
On leave, he always grows a super-sexy goatee. He's also experimented with the 'stache, and a beard. All are hot on him, 'cause he's just plain 'ol hot.

I prefer clean shaven. If he can keep it clean, short and tidy ... and it suits his appearance ... okay.

However ......... one of the most repulsive things about a man who decides not to shave is when it gets all bushy and wild looking and has crumbs and who-knows-what hidden away in there.

I think stubble and beards are sexy. yes, sexy.

It needs to fit the man though. And there is a time and place. I don't want you looking like a lumberjack when you're meeting my parents for the first time but I wouldn't mind if you'd just come in from choppin' some wood or something - ha!

I am curious why men are so into beards - are they trying to prove something? I mean maybe it's some weird way they are trying to reclaim the masculinity feminazis have taken from them? And it's somehow all tied to some need to be affirmed in childhood that was never met (oh freud would have a field day with this!)

All kidding aside, I don't mind a man who wants to grow a beard though I prefer goatees over beards.

yeah... i'f i'm clean shaven... i lok like i'm 15. if i have a mondo huge santa clause bear, i look liek i'm in my 30s... usually i just have mutton-chops, which makes me look like i'm 20... the only thing that seems to make me look my age is a handlebar stash, no sideburns, no chin hair. but i only do that to make myself laugh, cause when i catch a glimpse of myself in the mirror i'm like "dude, you look like a porn star" and i'd high five myself for looking silly, but i can't do that.

wifey says i can do whatever i want, or whatever makes me happy... but i usually just do sideburns, cause its easiest to deal with. but i like to change my facial hair about as much a women change their shoes, so yeah... tomorrow, anything goes :P

I don't like beards. I used to tolerate short ones, but now I don't even care for those. I feel that for the most part they give a person a very unkempt appearance. To me, it looks like they don't care about their appearance.

While I think that this can be true...it is also possible to have a kept beard. Say like blue beard v. pa ingalls?

Did you ever see a picture of what the real pa Ingalls looked like?

I LOVE a beautifully trimmed beard on a man. Frankly a man MUST have some facial hair (other than his eyebrows) for me to consider him good looking. The main reason I prefer Sean Connery to Denzel, much to the disbelief of my girlfriends (LOL) There are some men that are exceptionally good looking with no facial hair, but for me, they are very few and very far in between.

p.s.
But on the other hand, I HATE a hairy chest on man. UGGGHHHHH!!!!!

I hate long beards on ALL men. they are unnattractive and make the man look REALLY old. The only beards I think look OK are those very short ones if kept short and well trimmed.(sort of like George Michael wears)
However even more than beards, I hate mustouches(sorry cant think how to spell that) Nothing worse than kissing a guy with one yuk!!!Fortunately hubby has never grown either thank goodness, so I dont have that problem.

My own personal preference is that all men should be required to have beards (none of this goatee thing), though they do need to be kept clean. And hey, if they wanted I think it would be fun for a man to grow a really long beard and put it in two braids.
